Despite having a three-year squad, Enzo Maresca still wants reinforcements in attack. Besides Garnacho, Chelsea want to sign Xavi Simons. And they are prepared to send players to Germany to facilitate the transfer.

The closing of the transfer window inevitably means that clubs start to move more desperately, especially on matters that have been dragging on since the start of June.

This is particularly the case for Xavi Simons. The Dutch forward from RB Leipzig is about to leave. There is no doubt that he will leave the German club this summer.

And he still has a good market value, especially in the Premier League. A starter this Friday night in the 6-0 defeat against Bayern Munich, the former PSG player is grabbing headlines in the English press this Saturday.

According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old player is at the centre of the battle between Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Blues, who started the season strongly with a victory in the Club World Cup final against PSG and a resounding 5-1 victory in the Premier League over West Ham this Friday, are still looking for attacking talent.

And despite the arrivals of Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Estêvão, Enzo Maresca continues to want reinforcements up front. Negotiations have begun to sign the Dutchman.

Can Chelsea build off of victory over West Ham? Can Chelsea build off of victory over West Ham? Chelsea put themselves in a great position to keep on winning in Premier League play. The Blues managed to take down West Ham 5-1 on Friday, Aug. 22, coming back from being down a goal early in the first half.

Chelsea Want to Sign Xavi Simons from Leipzig

The former Paris Saint-Germain player has already agreed to sign for the Premier League. RB Leipzig, for their part, are open to a sale, but not at any price.

"We know about his big ambitions to play in an elite league for a title contender. He wants to prove himself at the highest level. If it is profitable, we are open. But only then. If it is not economically viable, we expect another season with this exceptional player," declared sporting director Marcel Schäfer to BILD. To sign him, Chelsea will have to pay €70M.

The Daily Mail reveals that negotiations have resumed in the last hours and that the Blues want to act quickly, as Tottenham have entered the bidding.

But Enzo Maresca's team have an argument: a huge squad and players to sell. The British newspaper explains that Chelsea want to include Christopher Nkunku in this deal to lower the price.

The Frenchman previously played for Leipzig, and the German club are interested in his return. They also have Harvey Elliott in their sights to succeed Xavi Simons.

It remains to be seen if this deal will materialise, but this option is being carefully considered during the negotiations.
